The name as well as the architectural form of this block of apartments gives away its ecclesiastical origins. Built 1876-78 by C E Danby as a Methodist church, it was already described as redundant when listed grade II in 1984 (list entry 1265240). The gabled extension to the rear was the Sunday school; Image shows the front of the church, facing the road.
