The two villages that mark the point where the railway goes underground to travel under the River Severn have seen their fortunes improve. Before the workers came to dig the tunnel, times were becoming hard. However, the extra people who came and stayed here helped to invigorate things. With this, an area of open space was set aside and the village hall built - the distinctive rounded roof. Close by are the changing rooms for the local football club.
