Beyond the fence is the Coventry-Leamington railway, which was built in 1844 and bisected the wood. The southern part, beyond the railway, is known as Tuesday's Wood and is a nature reserve without public access. Coventry city council bought the woodland from the Stoneleigh estate in 1926; see the council website https://www.coventry.gov.uk/heritage-ecology-trees/kenilworth-road-woodlands/5 .
