Bishop Street was built in the 1840s. There were 35 terraced houses. During World War Two the Whitehouse Street area was heavily bombed, causing the destruction and subsequent demolition of the majority of the housing in the Whitehouse Street area. By the 1970s the majority of the Whitehouse Street area had become an industrial estate.
