Stoneleigh Court, Shadwell

Built in 1879, architect RL Adams of the Leeds School Board, this was the Leeds Industrial School, a rare example of a state-run residential school teaching mainly manual rather than academic skills. It closed as a school in 1984 and has now been converted into apartments. Listed grade II (list entry 1256106). A fuller history is given at http://www.childrenshomes.org.uk/LeedsBoysIS/
