This font dating from the C12th (at the latest) predates the church which houses it by at least 200 years - this is not particularly unusual as fonts seem to often survive the reconstruction of their church, but perhaps suggests that there was an earlier church on this site. At each cardinal point there is a head or 'mask' on the rim of the bowl - but only the one seen here (eastern) has avoided damage - see a close-up of it here Image Close-up of the base scrolls here: Image]
