Grade II Listed former Grammar School. The school is in 4 distinct blocks (only two in the photo). The hipped roof block just in view is about 1760 and the others are 19th century. The plaque in the porch gable reads 'This school house was rebuilt and enlarged in the year 1834 by Anne widow of William Danby esquire'. The foundation of the school dates back to 1819 and the current voluntary aided school has room for 116 children. To the rear of the school is a flat-roofed extension from the 1960s/70s. The latest extension to North East of the original buildings dates back to 1999-2000. Further alterations were carried out in 2005 and 2007 with the door on the left being replaced in late 2011. In 2022 works included the internal alteration and refurbishment of the existing school WC facilities and store rooms. The school has been awarded two Lottery grants, £5k in May 2006 to convert a large area of wasteland into a landscaped garden and wildlife area and in November 2016 £10k to develop the school's outdoor area to help to reduce childhood obesity.
