The lichen 'Xanthoria parietina' seen on the bark of a field maple on Limes Land in Tenterden, Kent. The green-yellow thallus (main body) is leaf-like and slightly wrinkled. The disc-shaped fruiting bodies are orange with paler rims and contain the ascus (a sac containing the spores). Image ref:P6070043a2g.
