Until the Keighley by-pass was built this West Riding CC milestone was at the beginning of 38 miles from Keighley to the Lancashire border near Kirkby Lonsdale. Since 1974 all but the first 4½ miles has been part of North Yorkshire. This first milestone now on B6265 is at the junction with Arctic Street. Although it has a backing stone it is not fixed to it with the usual bolts. A ew years ago many of the milestones in the Keighley area were repainted.
