The stone doorcase of Image, dated 1713 with its steep triangular pediment was rescued from the old thatched house destroyed by fire in 1974 and reads Niet zonder Arbyt ("Not without labour"). That was the motto of Cornelius Vermuyden, the Dutch engineer responsible for many of the fen drainage works of the 17th century.
