Harrogate's oldest pub, 1827 date in Pevsner, Grade II-listed building on Crescent Road - showing evidence of recent entry into the public bar by a vehicle! The pub has Victorian gas lights inside. It was also a favourite watering hole of Sir John Barbirolli when the Halle Orchestra was in town and has been a film set for "Chariots of Fire".
