An important site that is Listed Grade II. This steam powered woollen mill was built in 1791 by Lord Dartmouth. Claimed to be the first steam powered woollen mill in Yorkshire the engine was in a 'half-house' with the crank and flywheel in the open. This engine was later replaced in the mid-19th century by one in a full house. The engine house is on the extreme right under scaffolding as its roof is being replaced.
