The burial ground was established in 1564 when Mary Queen of Scots granted the land to the city. It is A-listed: LB25312 https://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB25312 . In the background is the tower of the Courier Building, now the headquarters of D C Thomson and Co., erected as late as 1960; B-listed: LB25339 https://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB25339 .
