The Grotto is a pub and restaurant at the foot of the cliffs at Marsden Bay. It is partly in a cave cut into the rock. There has been a pub here since the early 19th century, accessed by a staircase down the cliff face. The lift was built in 1938 when Vaux Breweries of Sunderland bought the site.
