The entrance gateway to Marden Manor, seen from The Street. The walk leaves Chirton village, crosses the Andover Road, A342, and follows a restricted byway southwards before branching off onto a bridleway which ascends the scarp slope onto Salisbury Plain. At the edge of the Westdown Artillery Range, a military training area, a byway is followed east before turning north to follow a bridleway and then a minor road to Marden village. A footpath which becomes a bridleway is then taken, leading back to the starting point in Chirton. About 4¾ miles.
