On the right is Carberry Hill. On the top of Carberry Hill is Locking Castle, which is a motte and bailey castle built around 1100 to guard the way from Woodspring Priory to the port at Uphill. Excavations in 1902 found a medieval stone chamber, pottery, remains of a sword and an Edward IV coin. A large housing estate, built in the 1990s-2010s in nearby, Worle is named 'Locking Castle' after the castle. The castle became a scheduled monument on 6th January 1978.
