BR No. 78018 on the Severn Valley Railway

Here is BR No. 78018 approaching Arley railway station from the north, built in 1953 at Darlington North Road Works. This is part of the BR Standard Class 2 2-6-0, known as the Mickey Mouse, and this engine entered mainline service in March 1954 and withdrew from it in November 1966, when it was based in Shrewsbury. This locomotive arrived at Barry Scrapyard in June 1967 and remained there until October 1978, when it moved to the Battlefield Line Railway. It was based at the Darlington Railway Preservation Society from 1981 to 2012, when it moved to its present base in October 2012 (the Great Central Railway). The locomotive was one of three visiting steam locomotives to the SVR Spring Steam Gala 2023.
