Welcome to Shropshire

The border between England and Wales is very sinuous in this area, resulting here in the oddity of passing from Wales into England while travelling in an east - west direction. Motorists will be in Shropshire for a few miles before again crossing the border. This sign is considerably scruffier and more battered than the equivalent one provided by Powys County Council in the opposite direction.
