This West Riding CC milestone dating from 1893/94 is the only one originally set up on this route that remains in place. Although the pavement has been built up over the years all the legends can be made out. Seven milestones were specified on the 1893 contract between the newly formed West Riding County Council and the contractors Frank & Gill Stead of Mirfield. Obviously a favourite with dogs! it is on Leeds Road at Bolus Street turn off. The casting was made at the Brayshaw & Booth foundry in Liversedge.
