The Belvoir Castle website states that, "The Old Engine Yard was developed in 1812 onwards when the new steam engine was installed to pump water from the village of Woolsthorpe to the Castle ... when Belvoir Castle was fully built and more rooms were used by the family, the Engine Yard became the building yard for the ongoing construction and maintenance of the Castle and Gardens." Since this photo the buildings have been renovated and been turned into shops, restaurants and bars.
