A handsome house built in 1776 by William Oldham for Clement Winstanley. The motif of the recessed central bay is the same as Image], although Oldham is not known to have designed the latter. Good Doric doorcase (Image]). Grade II listed. Having been a school from the 1930s until the 1990s, the house was then disused for at least twenty years. Since this photo it has been renovated, converted into a hotel/restaurant/event venue and renamed Winstanley House (Image]). The grounds form a public park.
