Introduction
The photograph on this page of Fields no more by Evelyn Simak as part of the Geograph project.
The Geograph project started in 2005 with the aim of publishing, organising and preserving representative images for every square kilometre of Great Britain, Ireland and the Isle of Man.

Where there used to be fields there is now a sand and gravel extraction site and processing plant. This site extends over an area of 106 hectares (gross) and it is planned to extract 400,000 tonnes of sand and gravel per year, with an average lorry movement of 150 per day, over a period of 20 years. The white 'dots' seen in the distance at right are seagulls, populating one of the large accumulations of rain and meltwater
