Built around 1882 as a lodge to the one-time Mental Hospital ('Lunatic Asylum') which occupied much of the land to the immediate north, but which was demolished in the 1990s leaving only this building, Image and Image to show for what was presumably a fine old piece of architecture. The lodge was Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101234338-former-entrance-lodge-to-rubery-hill-hospital-longbridge-ward#.ZAS-mHbP3IU & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1234338 in 1993.
