Nationwide Specialist Services, Ashley Road, Hale. Seemingly, the building was originally an Industrial School, known as 'St Baldreds', which housed female (child) offenders to be reformed and trained as domestic servants. (For detailed information about the 19th Century Industrial and Reform schools, see http://www.childrenshomes.org.uk/IS/.) Latterly, it was the Hale Conservative Club until the property was sold for business development in 2008 at a price of £1M.
