Stoneferry Bridge's (north) 'A' Frame

This is the main support for the north (eastbound) Stoneferry Bridge. The 'sister' (westbound) south bridge is of virtually identical design and lies about 20m away from this one. Both bridges lift to allow River Hull traffic to pass underneath, but that is a relatively rare occurrence these days. The pair of bridges replaced a narrow swing bridge which was a traffic 'bottleneck' in its day.
