Opened in 1848 on the London & North Western Railway's line from Leeds to Huddersfield. The suffix 'Low' was applied from 1951 to 1971 to differentiate it from "Morley Top" station on the Great Northern Railway's network nearby - see Image View north east towards Churwell and Leeds. The replacement station was taking shape in the distance, just beyond the yellow digger, when this image was taken.
