This is a curious looking monument, as though somebody forgot to put the cross on top. It was, in fact, intended to look like this and is described as a '3 tiered collection of rough stones'. Unusually, there are more names inscribed from the Second World War than the First, no doubt reflecting the population growth in the area. Old photographs show that there were once railings surrounding the memorial.
