In my experience, the 08:37 (08:30 from Aberystwyth) is the least reliable service on the line. Often subject to delays and cancellation for various reasons, including 'short staffages' and train faults. On this occasion, the train was scheduled to run to Shrewsbury but was to be stopped short at Machynlleth, due to another train fault. Fortunately, I wanted to use it to get to Dovey Junction, so was not inconvenienced, unlike other poor souls who would miss their connection at Shrewsbury!
