At the corner of St John's Road [A8] and Manse Road. A familiar sight has disappeared. For decades it was the location of Woolworths [the double storey brick gable], a succession of supermarkets from the 1960s onwards on the near corner [FineFare, Safeway and others] and a few small businesses in between them; in 2018 them there was a Liberal MSP's office, Pizza Hut, SemiChem, and Corstorphine Hub with Lucy's Cafe and CYC Centre. Woolworths went, then the supermarket and successor shops. There is a current planning application, granted in 2018 for mixed use development incorporating residential development [4-5-storey flats], commercial floorspace, hot food takeaway, car parking and associated works.
