Looking across the steep Beast Banks towards the town centre. Castle Howe is the site of the original timber Norman castle in Kendal. This castle was replaced in around 1200 by the stone castle on the far side of the valley. In 1788 a monument to the Glorious Revolution of 1688 was erected at Castle Howe.
