The village of Anstruther Wester is 3km away, with Bass Rock 19½km away across the Firth of Forth. Beyond is the East Lothian coastline and the Lammermuir Hills, the hills are about 40km away. The East Neuk of Fife is an area of the coast of Fife, "Neuk" is the Scots word for nook or corner. It covers an area of approximately 100 square kilometres (39 sq mi).
