Although not a great picture this is a very unusual view of the tubes with a Green's economiser complete with the soot scraper assemblies that move up and down to keep the tubes free from soot. The economiser uses residual heat in the boiler flue gases to preheat the boiler feed water and thus reducing the fuel bill. This economiser is no longer in use and this view has been created for the visitor to this museum of the woollen industry. Unfortunately the museum seems to like coloured lighting with changing hues, hence the purple cast on this image.
