Buddhist stupa in Hollyhill Wood

This is the most southerly of nine Buddhist stupas arranged along a trail in the woods. It was handbuilt in the 1980s by Albertina Choules who lived in an isolated cottage nearby. A Buddhist stupa is a mound-like structure containing remains of monks or nuns, and used as a place of meditation. In a tragic postscript to the story of the stupas, Mrs Choules was murdered by an intruder in 2016. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-43914661
