A pair of cottages built in the 18th century with later additions and alterations. Constructed of rubble stone with an ashlar front. all under a tile roof. Conkwell is a hamlet in Wiltshire, very near the county border with North East Somerset. It is some 3 miles southeast of Bath and about 2¼ miles west of Bradford-on-Avon. The settlement was established to house the workers of the quarries of building stone on both sides of Conkwell. A steep inclined tramway installed at the beginning of the 19th century carried stone down to a wharf on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Dundas Aqueduct.
