West Court, beyond the trees, is a former country house taken over by the military at some stage. This old surfaced road, now growing over a bit, used to be the eastern entrance. It's now blocked off behind me with great lumps of concrete, and up ahead is a locked metal gate with barbed wire. The footpath route shown on the map as going right up to the house has now been diverted around the grounds. This bit is still ok though, and you rejoin the western drive once you're clear of the house.
