This Dove Valley village, with a modern population of about 2,000, has ancient origins originally as a Roman fort on the road between Derby and Newcastle-under-Lyme. The centre has basic facilities including the Red Lion pub and a convenience store. Today, Rocester is best known as the headquarters of JCB.
