A small parcel of land at the start of Winterhay Lane is given over to the Burma Star Association. The Burma Star Garden was planted some fifty-odd years ago to commemorate the men and women who fought in the World War 2 Burma Campaign and was maintained by a veteran at first. Since time stops for no man, the duties have been taken over by the town council and the British Legion. At this time of the year, the brightest colour is the poppy wreath.
