Snow is infrequent in Cambridge and rarely lasts - but there have been several days of sub-zero temperatures and there is little immediate likelihood of a thaw. Main roads have been gritted, but side streets and pavements are icy. The advertisement on the school railings offers "Big trees sold by small people. Morley Christmas trees - order here".
