Planning records seem to suggest Hamilton Villa, no.10 was built from approval in April 1882 for E Walstow and Fern Villa, no.8 in January 1883 for John Machon, the architect being J T Drury in both cases. Although the roof appears to be contiguous the brickwork shows a gap between the two. I don't know if they were built to let but by 1885 occupants are listed in directories as no.8 Samuel Machon and no.10 Albert Ellison Rogers. They had moved on by 1889 and directory entries include; 1889 8 George Jas Lang, 10 Henry Priestland. 1894-1897 8 John Slater, engineer, 10 Mrs H Priestland. 1901 8 Joseph A Wesley, 10 Mrs L Priestland. 1909 8 John Frederick James, 10 William Rusling. 1905 8 J F James, 10 Mrs E Kitchingman. 1913-1919 8 J F James, 10 William Rusling engineer's clerk. 1965 8 Ralf Bates, 10 Mrs A E Nettleship.
