The distillery is in the city centre and has no doubt benefitted from the recent revival of popularity of the spirit. The building is listed grade II* (list entry 1386410) and the listing records several uses of the site over the centuries including as a gaol, Congregational meeting house and merchant's house, before becoming a distillery from 1793.
