This stretch of Wimborne Road, the main shopping street in Winton, is known as Peter’s Hill. The Wilkinson’s store prominent in this picture was Sainsbury’s from its erection in the late 1970s until 2003 when they closed. Sainsbury's claimed that they were "moving" to the new Image; however, this is stretching the point rather since they had always had a branch at the Hampshire Centre, Castlepoint's predecessor on the same site. Previously on the site was the original United Reformed church, which was rebuilt around the corner: see Image
