Old maps suggest that this wood was once part of the New Hall estate. It is just about accessible from one or two residential roads. There are faint winding paths. Trees observed in the northern part include ash and ash seedlings, sycamore seedlings, big limes, big dead trees, lots of ivy and brambles, occasional yew and cherry laurel.
