The stretch of the railway from Birmingham to Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield opened in 1863. It severed Green Lanes and Sheffield Road. A footbridge was built here Image The approach from Green Lanes, pictured, is the cut-off part of Sheffield Road. Some of the road can be seen in the background, across the tracks.
