The old church on Effingham Road ceased to offer worship in the early 1980s and was then partly demolished to create these new houses for elderly people. A Sunday School adjoining it also went and this is where the aparatments stand now. David Thomas was a Welsh minister of the nineteenth century and after whom this church was a memorial.
