These early 19th century, rusticated gate piers in sandstone ashlar are the gateway to The Hall. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1130911 Middleham is a market town in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire. It lies on the south bank of the River Ure in Wensleydale, some 2 miles southeast of Leyburn. There has been a settlement here since Roman times. Today, Middleham is a centre of horse racing. The massive, ruinous Middleham Castle, one of the childhood homes of Richard III, dominates the town.
