Marchwood ERF (or Marchwood Energy Recovery Facility) is a waste incineration plant in the estuary of the River Test opposite the Port of Southampton. It burns municipal waste and produces electricity for the National Grid. The plant has been imaginatively surrounded by a great silver dome superstructure designed by the architect Jean-Robert Mazaud, with only the twin chimneys stretching upward through the elegantly curved roof. Since its completion in 2007, "The Silver Dome" has become a stunning shoreside landmark in the Southampton Docks area. The two units of the CCGT (combined cycle gas turbine) power station are beyond to the left.
