The pumping station, dated 1969, is operated by the Waterbeach Level Internal Drainage Board, which is responsible for drainage and water-level management of a large area of fenland north-east of Waterbeach. It maintains a network of 35.5km of drains which gravitate to three pumping stations which discharge into the River Cam. This one pumps into the river just below Bottisham Lock.
