“Illuminated Sheep” by Deepa Mann-Kler, a multi-disciplinary artist primarily working in neon and creating light installations https://www.deepamannkler.com/ https://www.discoverneon.com/ , celebrates the (temporary) return of the Lindisfarne Gospels https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindisfarne_Gospels https://www.bl.uk/collection-items/lindisfarne-gospels to the North East. The Gospels, the most impressive manuscript to survive from Anglo-Saxon England, have been lent by the British Library to the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle Image https://laingartgallery.org.uk/ https://laingartgallery.org.uk/whats-on/lindisfarne-gospels and will be displayed from 17 September to 3 December 2022. Inspired by the Gospels' themes of light, sheep and pilgrimage, a “visual arts trail” sees of a flock of life-sized sheep lit up in bright colours at Bamburgh Castle, Vindolanda and the Woodhorn Museum.
