Built in the High Street in 1844 to replace the medieval church at Seasalter. Alphege was an Anglo-Saxon Bishop of Winchester who became Archbishop of Canterbury. He was murdered by Vikings in Greenwich. His body was removed from St. Paul's Cathedral and buried in Canterbury Cathedral in 1023, the procession passing through Whitstable en route. He was canonised in 1078.
