Penrice Court, the property with the Greek Doric porch, was the residence of John Warner who built the rest of East Terrace in 1836 as part of a project to establish Walton as a smart resort. To the extent that East Terrace still retains more of its C19 grandeur than some of the town's similar properties, he was successful. The eponymous John Penrice was an earlier developer of the town.
